OSA Classes-Making Stamps from Cut Rubber Scraps--Section 3

SECTION THREE

Inspect your new stamp to see if there is any glue residue or other stray material on the top of the rubber pieces. If so, try to scrape or pick off the excess glue with your fingers or tweezers. Use a little alcohol or nail polish remover on a Q-tip or cotton ball to remove the glue if necessary. Try not to scratch the surface of the stamp pieces. Remove your pattern from the back of the base and trim the base plastic or transparency fairly close to your stamp edges, unless you wanted to leave a guide for lining up your stamp onto the acrylic block.

Adhere the underside of the plastic base of your stamp to the sticky side of the cling vinyl mounting foam and trim the foam to your base. Attach the cling vinyl side of your new stamp to an acrylic block. If you are making a permanent mount on wood, etc., then you are on your own for that! If you are unfamiliar with using static cling mounting foam, you can see how to use it by clicking here. Ink up your new stamp with markers or an inkpad and stamp it out. If there are any areas you are not happy with, you can try to recut the piece, pull off the old piece and trim it more or replace it with a new piece. Below are pictures of our completed stamp being placed on the mounting foam and on an acrylic block. Also you can see stampouts I made in from stamps made by this technique.
