Haiku is a Japanese poetry form with traditionally three lines of 5, 7, and 5 syllables. Haiku general contain words which evoke a sense of one of the seasons or some other reference to the natural world. The words are few and often suggest a sudden realization, or "aha" moment. Translated haiku do not always fit the traditional form. The haiku has been adopted as a popular form in the West as well.
