 | 3 Kasuga Stone Lanterns P0370001 Actual size: Each lantern approx 1.75 x .75 in List: $6.00 Sale: $5.00 (Postage added $0.30)Three Japanese Stone Garden Lanterns each sized to fit nicely on a standard domino or in a slide mailer slot. The first recorded Japanese stone lantern was erected om tje 7th Century by Prince Iruhiko as a protection against robbers. Stone lanterns are unique to Japanese gardens and are not found in traditional Chinese gardens. Kasuga Shape lanterns are distinguished by their tall cylindrical form supporting a hexagonal head with a stone roof of double curves. The first is a typical Kasuga lanter, the other two are not really Kasuga lanterns, but are similar in form. The second lantern is a Yu-no-ki-gata, Lemon Tree shape, which features a flat mushroom-shape cap instead of the double curved form. The third is a Nigatsu-Do shape, named after a ancient temple. |
