Chikanobu and Eizan This is the first in a series of collage sheets featuring the prints of various Japanese artists from the past. Yoshu Chicanobu (1838 - 1912) was one of several Japanese artists of the Meiji era (1868 - 1912) who combined Japanese and Western forms and styles in his work. Kikugawa Eizan (1787-1867), painter and printmaker, lived in Edo (now Tokyo). He was influenced by Utamaro and Hokusai. From the early 1800s until he retired about 1830, he became the leading designer of bijin-ga (prints of beautiful women); actor prints and erotica (Shunga). Groups of women and children were also among his favorite subjects. Each sheet has 2 reproductions of 6 prints, one approx. 2.5 x 3.75 in. and one 1.0 x 1.5 in. These are printed reproductions, NOT STAMPS. You may request these printed in reverse for inkjet transfer applications.
