About Art Neko
Art Neko, LLC is registered in the State of Oregon and our stamps are manufactured locally in Portland, Oregon. We are an "Angel" company that offers deeply etched, unmounted rubber art stamps. Stamps may be trimmed and mounted on cling vinyl mounting foam for an additonal fee. We also sell cling vinyl mounting foam sheets for those who would like to save money and mount their own stamps and we sell acrylic mounting blocks. (Click here to see instructions!).Our designs are developed from various sources, drawing heavily upon intercultural motifs. We strive to present information regarding the significance of many of our designs, and maintain a sample gallery and an extensive links page so that our website can be both a source of stamp images as well as an educational and inspirational resource.
Art Neko consists of a mother and son partnership of Candice and David Jordan. Art Neko began offering stamps January 1, 2003 while we were still living in Stuttgart and we are greatly indebted to dear friend LeVoy Franciso who filled orders for us until we located to our present home in Portland, Oregon. In January of 2005 Heather Taylor of Daligraphics joined our team as graphics and design associate.David has done most of the website design but just got married in July 2006 and started his graduate studies in mathematics at MIT August 2006, so Candice will do her best to keep the website functioning and improved. Please inform us via email of any problems or improvements you would like to suggest.
Candice and David have lived in Asia and Europe as military family members. While living in Japan, Candice discovered the rich graphic heritage of Japanese Kamon (Family Crests) which she incorporated together with Native American art into cross stitch patterns for her Japanese students and friends. (Click here to see photos!).
Candice was infected with Rubber Stamp Fever by her friend LeVoy in Maryland shortly before moving to Germany. Now the images Candice collected over the years for charting into cross stitch patterns are merging with new designs for rubber stamps. These include her original Japanese pattern and Native American art image collections, along with new additions such as the Hungarian Eggs collected while visiting Budapest and German landscapes inspired by the four years spent living in Stuttgart.
